APPROACH
Life can be tricky, but banking doesn’t have to be. These spots should introduce the audience to everyday good people caught up in some of the absurd situations life throws at us. Adulting is hard- from trying new hobbies, to being put in unexpected circumstances. Everyone can relate to being a fish out of water. All of the spots will individually coalesce with one thing going right; their banking!

the look & feel
Whether we are in an apartment, a yoga studio, or on the soccer field, our look is cinematically organic. There is a sense of real life moodiness composed with layer of warmth. There is always a dash of the TD green color palette within our frame. Here are a few examples that I think do this well.

The camera should only be moving for a reason. For example, when we see our actor addressing the camera about getting into house plants, we can explore what makes the joke land best. Is it a hard cut to a wide of the living room with her surrounded by dead plants? Or perhaps the camera pulls back from a close up revealing her surrounded by the horror of her greenery on life support. As these spots are set at :15 seconds, our camera movement and blocking will need to service the set up, joke, and the clock.

CAsting

The talent we bring on will be performers capable of taking the script and offering several flavors. With three solid scripts, we can get what is written, without being afraid to try variations on top of it. One of the objectives will be to laugh with the characters, not at them. They are “real” people, it’s the situation that is absurd.
I have found that the most subtle of delivery an actor does can dramatically change something from kinda funny to outright hilarious. This can be anything from the cadence of a line, a small head turn, or the pronunciation of a specific word. While there may be certain aspects these campaigns are designed to engage with age wise, the casting net can be open to a lot of different types of people. I believe comedy is blind to race, sex, and religion.
A little about me
Michael is a director specializing in comedy. His skill for timing was honed while touring the country in an indie rock band. He soon found a knack for directing within the skateboard film community, where a passion for picture and sound could be combined. These experiences helped Michael cement a foundation of creativity through teamwork, leading to work with clients such as Dr. Scholl’s, Netflix, NFL, and Hasbro. When the cameras are not rolling, Michael can be found spending time with his fiancé, most likely watching somebody flip a house on tv..
similar work i have done
Here are a few examples I have directed. I believe film is a team sport, and all of these projects were the result of an incredibly collaborative effort.

THANK YOU
I understand that there can be hours and hours of work that goes into a project like this before a director is even involved. I am very excited to be given the opportunity to throw my hat in the ring. I can tell this is going to be fun one.
